| GLEB GLEBOV
Gleb Pavlovich Glebov (real name Sorokin) (1899—1967), an actor, People' artist of Byelorussia (1940), and People's artist of the USSR (1948).
He was one of the legendary personalities of the National Yanka Kupala Academic Theater, where he had worked since 1926. For 40 years of his work at the Byelorussian Theater, Glebov had traversed a path from a participant of mass meetings and an ordinary super to a performer of parts, which the life of the whole theatrical depended on.
The great master was equally good at drama and comedy, classical and modern plays. Possessing. a gift of improvisation and perfect plastic art, he had brilliantly played over 160 roles, about the majority of which the theatergoers have been keeping grate-full reminiscences, public remembers Glebov in “Pavlinka”, “A Miser”, "Who Is the Last to Laugh", "Anna Karenina" and "People in the Marshes. The film "Our Neighbors" can be seen at the cinema even today and the television version of the legendary play of the Kupala Theater “Pavlinka” still remains an exemplary performance.
Glebov also acquired great popularity as a teller of fairytales and fables for children’s radio broadcast.
