| THE LITTLE PRINCE
The Little Prince, a fairy tale by the French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, is one of the most famous literary works of the 20th century. This fairy tale is not so much for the kids as for the adults, since it is a story about the eternal philosophical problems of mankind - life and death, the essence of existence, and the place of humans in this world. And all this is presented in a very delicate and philosophical way-as if it were an inflamed fantasy of the author proper who finds himself stranded in the midst of a desert following a plane crash. Underlying the tale is a contrast between two worlds, two origins, and... their compositional interconnection. They are separated, run parallel to each other, and never intersect, deep desert sands flow between them - but still they are together. This dualism of the world and duality or our feelings are emphasized by the coin's composition: its main image also consists of two interrelated but separate subjects. The principal symbolic characters of the fairy tale are: the graceful and smart small animal ("my fox, my friend, you become responsible, forever, for what we have tamed"); the rose - a proud but fretful flower, the symbol of love and beauty of life ("she has filled my life with aroma, but I failed to appreciate it"); the desert - the symbol of loneliness and infinity; the star - the symbol of the little prince ("you will have very special stars, the ones that can smile"); and the well - a place next to which the small prince first appeared on the Planet Earth - the author's symbol for the little prince. Everything is very simple but...
